General Behaviour and personality: Marcus tries hard to be friendly and sociable however he still has difficulties and his depression sometimes shows through his façades. He was once very ambitious but now has difficulties seeing what life has to offer.

Marcus holds the record for the longest streak of games without a goal of any chaser in the history of the British and Irish Quidditch League. He was dropped from his team after the 32nd game.
Marcus’s broomstick is worth more than the room he’s living in.
Marcus picked up a substantial amount of Irish during his 7 or so years in County Kerry but his Welsh is negligable.
Marcus has a rather unplaceable accent and though he has spent only a minimal proportion of his life in England, he sounds quite English.
Marcus would like an owl but is scared that if he buys one it might not like him.
Marcus adores children but is scared of them. The most he’s ever had to do with them is to sign autographs for them.

Family History:
The House of Flint was historically the largest pure blood family in Wales and one of the largest in Britain. However, over the past two centuries, the male line has dwindled such that Marcus and his father are the only Wizards in Britain and Ireland bearing the name. Marcus is a second cousin of Ernie Macmillan and is third cousin to the late Sirius (and Regulus) Black as well as around thirty others. He is distantly related to most prominent wizards and witches in Britain. Marcus's father, Mervin, who never had a job, gambled away most of what was left of the family fortune. In 1995, Marcus's mother, who had been a victim of domestic violence since her marriage, was killed by her husband who was sent to Azkaban as a result.

Once described as looking "as if he had some troll blood in him", Marcus Flint grew up in a cycle of bullying. His 'trollish' looks made him an easy victim for the torments of cruel children. He grew up with low self-esteem and hid behind shields of violence and his own augmented cruelty. However, with a haircut and the demise of his acne, in addition to the resizing and realignment of his teeth, Flint, according to Witch Weekly, "developed into one of the most attractive men in Britain and Ireland."
Following his graduation from Hogwarts in 1994, Marcus moved to Kenmare to be a chaser with the Kenmare Kestrels. He enjoyed a reasonable amount of success in his first few seasons but in the meantime his father had killed his mother. Marcus moved to Dublin in 1997 when Quidditch was cancelled and then to London in 1998 at the end of the War. Returning to his team later that year, he found his effectiveness in games was plummeting. Eventually, in 2003, he was dropped from the team. His life in a mess, Marcus moved to London where, he hoped, he might find a new direction. |
